SHORT STORY: The Great Danes came back to take the second set but it was not enough as the Bulldogs took the four-set victory, Sunday afternoon.
 
COACH JOSH PICKARD: "We saw some glimpses of what our team is capable of today. We continue to work to sustain the pressure we were able to manufacture for parts of the match."
 
KEY STATS

• Two Great Danes led with double-digit kills - sophomore Anna Myhal (11) and redshirt-sophomore Shynelle Woroniuk (10).
• Similarly, two Great Danes led the defense with double-digit digs - senior Elisavet Papageorgiou (17) and junior Sthefany Carvalho (14).
• As a team, UAlbany totaled eight team blocks. Redshirt-sophomore Kendall Harris, junior Zosia Szczotkiewicz, and redshirt-freshman Gabriella Karman led with four each.
• Szczotkiewicz earned a team-high with two service aces and 32 assists.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Bryant opened the match with a 6-2 scoring run.
• After the Bulldogs extended their lead, the Great Danes closed the point gap to 13-10 with three straight points.
• UAlbany tied the score at 20 with five unanswered points.
• Despite going back and forth, Bryant closed the set, 25-23.
• The Great Danes jumped to an early 8-4 lead in the second set.
• Taking eight straight points, UAlbany extended its lead to double-digits.
• Allowing just a total of 13 Bulldog points, the Great Danes won the second set with a final 3-0 scoring run.
• The third set began with back-and-forth action.
• Trading points and scoring runs, UAlbany earned a 6-4 lead before Bryant turned the pages for its 11-8 lead.
• Moving back in the Great Danes' favor, UAlbany notched a 9-3 scoring run to gain a 19-15 advantage.
• The Bulldogs answered with an 8-2 scoring run to retake the lead, 24-22.
• The Great Danes scored another point but it was not enough as Bryant closed the set, 25-23.
• The Bulldogs started what proved to be the final set with a 5-2 run.
• After tallying 10 unanswered points from Bryant, UAlbany followed with a 7-1 scoring run to close the gap to 18-10.
• Despite returning to the back-and-forth action of the previous sets, it was not enough to overcome the early scoring run. The Bulldogs took the set, 25-15, and the match, 3-1.

 
NEXT: The Great Danes return home to host a Halloween match against LIU (Oct. 31).
