New Hampshire Takes Volleyball Match

SHORT STORY: Going 1-1 in the first two sets, the Great Danes fought for each point but it was the Wildcats taking the four-set win, Friday night.
 
COACH JOSH PICKARD: "Tough battle tonight. We had some instances where we were playing at a high level and some others where we let opportunities slip. This weekend we get another chance to get on the court to fix some of the things we've been working on."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Starting the match with back-and-forth action, New Hampshire grabbed four points to take a 7-4 lead but UAlbany answered with a 4-1 scoring run to tie the score at eight.
  • The Wildcats gained a seven-point advantage with a 9-2 scoring run.
  • The Great Danes gradually closed the point gap but it was not enough as New Hampshire took the set, 25-22.
  • Forcing a timeout, UAlbany opened the second set with five unanswered points.
  • Extending their lead with a 6-2 scoring run, the Great Danes earned a 10-3 advantage.
  • The Wildcats closed the point gap but five straight points from UAlbany recaptured the seven-point lead at 16-9.
  • Despite New Hampshire's attempts to come back, the Great Danes held them off and took the set, 25-16.
  • Once again, UAlbany opened the third set with five straight points.
  • After trading points, the Wildcats took the lead, 19-16, with a 6-0 scoring run.

  • After the Wildcats gradually gained an advantage, a 6-0 scoring run gave the Great Danes a two-point lead, 18-16.
  • With five straight points, New Hampshire came back to take the set, 25-20, and the match, 3-1.
