ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany softball team is ready for their final weekend series, set to take place at Stony Brook.

GREAT DANE REWIND
  • UAlbany opened the 2022 season with three five-game tournaments. At the Winthrop Eagle Tournament (Feb. 18-20), the team collected a 2-3 record before tallying a 3-2 record at the 2022 Spring Games at Madeira Beach (Mar. 3-5). The Great Danes saw two losses at Towson (3/11) before the rest of the tournament was canceled due to weather.
  • Seeing five non-conference doubleheaders, so far, UAlbany has swept CCSU (3/16), Army (4/6), and Siena (4/21) while splitting the Colgate (3/26) and Marist (3/30) doubleheaders.
  • Starting conference play at UMBC (April 2-3), the Great Danes swept Maine (April 9-10) after going 1-2 against the Retrievers.
  • Since hosting the Black Bears, UAlbany has gone 2-1 over both Hartford (April 15-16) and UMass Lowell (April 23-24) while sweeping a doubleheader against Binghamton (4/13).
 
AT THE PLATE
  • Morgan Petty leads the team batting 42-108 for a .389 batting average and a .731 slugging percentage. The junior owns a team-high eight home runs and 40 RBI. 
  • Katie Falotico (.368), Maddi Petrella (.333), and Maranda Jimenez (.302) follow with their respective batting averages. 
  • Falotico leads the team with 14 doubles. Her .40 doubles per game is good for seventh in the nation.
  • Alexis Phillips and Falotico own a team-high three triples each.
  • Five Great Danes have totaled double-digit RBI - Petty has compiled 40 for the team-high while Falotico (29), Petrella (26), Jimenez (17), and Phillips (10) follow.
 
IN THE FIELD
  • Falotico leads the defense with 159 putouts; Petrella follows closely with 130.
  • Lové Drumgole leads with 68 assists.
  • Falotico and Drumgole have contributed to seven double-plays each to lead the team.
  • Six different Great Danes have seen the circle.
  • Wendi Hammond has seen the most time with 113.1 innings pitched and 89 strikeouts. The junior has pitched 10 complete games, including one shutout, with 17 starts, 1 save, and a 12-7 record in the circle. 
  • Briana Garrett follows tallying 37.0 innings pitched, with two complete games, including one shutout, and six starts.
 
ABOUT STONY BROOK
  • The Seawolves are 27-13 on the season with a 7-3 record in the America East.
  • Playing four tournaments to open the season, Stony Brook held a 12-8 record through the first four weeks of play.
  • Before the start of conference play, three single games and one doubleheader added four wins and one loss.
  • The Seawolves opened their America East schedule splitting the two-game series against Maine (4/2) before falling in a doubleheader against UMBC (4/13) and sweeping a doubleheader against Binghamton (4/17). 
  • Before seeing UMBC, Stony Brook notched three wins with a single game against St. John's (4/5) and a doubleheader at Providence (4/9).
  • The River Hawks are 20-12 on the season with a 5-1 record in the America East.
  • Playing four tournaments to open the season, UMass Lowell held a 12-8 record through the first five weeks of play.
  • After splitting a non-conference doubleheader against Manhattan (4/21), the Seawolves won their last four with a series sweep over Hartford (April 23-24) and a single win over UMBC (4/27).
  • Alyssa Costello leads the team with a .376 batting average and a .414 on-base percentage.
  • Owning a team-high 40 RBI, Corinne Badger also leads with 14 home runs and a total of 21 multi-base hits.
  • Seeing a team-high 152.1 innings pitched, Dawn Bodrug owns a 1.65 ERA, a team-low. She has tallied 17 wins in the circle with two saves, 20 complete games, eight shutouts, and 261 strikeouts.
  • In the field, Badger leads with 304 putouts while Kyra MacFarland has tallied a team-high 48 assists and Lindsey Osmer has contributed to a team-high five double plays.
 
SERIES AGAINST THE SEAWOLVES
  • UAlbany leads the all-time series, 34-29.
  • During the 2021 season, the Great Danes went 3-2 against Stony Brook. UAlbany swept the regular-season series but the Seawolves defeated the Great Danes twice in the America East Tournament.
  • Seeing two wins from the regular season doubleheader, Briana Garrett and Wendi Hammond each tallied a complete-game win with Hammond's being a shutout. On day two of the series, Hammond added a win and Garrett added a save.
  • In game one, Maranda Jimenez led with five RBI from two hits, including one home run. For game two, Kelly Barkevich led with both RBI from a homer and Morgan Petty hit a triple. In the final game, Tara Driver tallied two RBI and a home run to lead while Petty added a double to the weekend.
 
PICKED THIRD
  • The Great Danes were picked to finish third in the 2022 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll. 
  • UAlbany tallied 27 points and no first-place votes.
  • UMBC topped the poll with 35 points and five first-place votes while Stony Brook followed with 29 points and two first-place votes.
  • Binghamton (20), UMass Lowell (18), Maine (12), and Hartford (6) followed to close out the poll.

  • Stony Brook leads the conference with a 7-3 America East record.
  • UAlbany follows with a 9-4 America East record.
  • UMBC ranks third with an 8-4 conference record and UMass Lowell holds a 7-4 record for fourth place.
  • Binghamton (3-6), Maine (4-9), and Hartford (2-10) round out the league with their respective records.
