Last Time Out
The Great Danes dropped all three games of their weekend series with Maine. On Friday, the Black Bears started the scoring with a four-run home run in the opening inning, but Michael Whalen was able to make it a one-run game in the bottom of the same inning off a three-run home run. Maine added two runs in the fourth and four in the fifth before Johnny Marti hit a solo shot to right in the bottom of the fifth to get one run back for the Great Danes. Two more runs in the sixth gave Maine an eight-run advantage. UAlbany started its comeback attempt in the seventh when Brad Malm and Whalen scored on two wild pitches. Whalen picked up his fourth and fifth RBI of the day on a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth and Chris Fisher followed with another two-RBI single in the bottom of the ninth, but the Great Danes fell just short as they dropped game one 10-12.

The teams played a doubleheader on Sunday to decide the series. Maine once again jumped out to an early lead in the second game of the series, scoring five runs in the second and two runs in the third. Fisher got UAlbany on the board in the fourth with an RBI single, scoring Will Binder. Maine plated its eighth run in the fifth while the Great Danes crossed home for the second time in the sixth when John Daly drove in Whalen off a one-run single. Although UAlbany was able to make it a two-run game off four RBI singles in the bottom of the ninth, the team lost game two 6-8.

The second game on Sunday was the closest one of the weekend, as the Great Danes lost by just one run. Maine scored first in the second on a wild pitch but UAlbany took a 3-1 lead in the third. Malm hit his 14th home run of the year, Will Feil drove in Marti on a ground out and Binder hit an RBI-double to bring home Whalen. But the Black Bears were able to score six runs between the fifth and eighth inning and held a 7-3 advantage heading into the ninth. UAlbany once again started a late comeback attempt, scoring three runs in the ninth off an RBI single by Whalen and a two-run double by Binder to make it a one-run game, but it wasn't enough to prevent Maine's series sweep.
