GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany opened the 2022 season in Rock Hill, South Carolina at the Winthrop Eagles Tournament (Feb. 18-20) before competing in the 2022 Spring Games at Madeira Beach (Mar. 3-5).
- In South Carolina, the Great Danes went 2-3 with wins against Winthrop and Ball State and losses against Robert Morris (twice) and Youngstown State. UAlbany tallied three wins and two losses in Florida - beating MTSU, Georgia Southern, and Georgetown.
- The Great Danes saw two losses at Towson (3/11) before the rest of the tournament was canceled due to weather.
- UAlbany began 'doubleheader season' at CCSU on March 16. The Great Danes swept the Blue Devils with an 8-1 win for game one and a 14-4 victory in game two.
- Ten days later, UAlbany hosted Colgate for its first home contest. After the Raiders took the first game in eight innings, the Great Danes came back for a shutout victory in game two.
- UAlbany hosted Marist (3/30) for a doubleheader. They split the series taking the first game, 5-4, in eight innings, and the Red Foxes took the second game, 6-5.
- In a non-conference doubleheader, the Great Danes swept Army (4/6) with a win from junior pitcher Wendi Hammond and a walk-off homer from Maddi Petrella.
- UAlbany opened conference play with a series at UMBC (April 2-3) before hosting Maine (April 9-10). The Great Danes went 1-2 against the Retrievers before sweeping Maine, 2-0, for a 3-2 conference record.
- Most recently, UAlbany took the series over Hartford (April 15-16), 2-1, after sweeping a doubleheader over Binghamton (4/13).
AT THE PLATE
- Morgan Petty leads the team batting 36-94 for a .383 batting average and a .766 slugging percentage. The junior owns a team-high eight home runs and 40 RBI.
- Katie Falotico (.352) and Maddi Petrella (.337) follow with their respective batting averages.
- Falotico leads the team with 11 doubles. Her .37 doubles per game is good for 17th in the nation.
- Alexis Phillips has hit two triples on the season.
- Four Great Danes have totaled double-digit RBI - Petty has compiled 40 for the team-high while Petrella (22), Falotico (20), and Maranda Jimenez (13) follow.
IN THE FIELD
- Falotico leads the defense with 124 putouts; Petrella follows closely with 109.
- Lové Drumgole leads with 59 assists.
- Falotico and Drumgole have contributed to seven double-plays each to lead the team.
- Six different Great Danes have seen the circle.
- Wendi Hammond has seen the most time with 97.1 innings pitched and 77 strikeouts. The junior has pitched nine complete games, including one shutout, with 15 starts and a 10-6 record in the circle.
- Briana Garrett follows tallying 32.0 innings pitched, with two complete games, including one shutout, and five starts.
ABOUT SIENA
- The Saints are 18-16 on the season with a 7-3 record in the MAAC.
- Siena opened the season with two six-game tournaments - the Spring Games (Feb. 25-27) and the Madeira Beach Invitational (Mar. 11-13). After 12 contests, the Saints held a 4-8 record.
- After splitting two doubleheaders - against Morgan State (3/22) and Howard (3/23) - and winning a single game at Delaware State (3/24), the Saints won a series at George Mason (Mar. 25-26).
- Closing out March, Siena swept a doubleheader at Sacred Heart (3/30).
- The Saints opened April with four doubleheaders, seeing a sweep at Saint Peter's (4/2), at Manhattan (4/4), and Fairfield (4/11) with two losses against CCSU (4/5).
- Most recently, Siena dropped the doubleheader against Canisius (4/16) after splitting the doubleheader against Iona (4/15).
- Ava Fitzmaurice leads with a .369 batting average and three triples.
- Tallying a team-high five home runs, Kyleigh Potter also leads with 25 RBI.
- Nicole Patille leads from the circle, having tallied a 2.60 ERA from 67.1 innings pitched and three complete games. Fitzmaurice has seen the most time in the circle with 86.1 innings pitched and six complete games.
- In the field, Emma McLaughlin leads with 250 putouts and six double-plays while Sabrina Vargas has tallied a team-high 83 assists.
SERIES AGAINST THE SAINTS
- The Great Danes lead the all-time series, 57-16.
- UAlbany and Siena last met in 2017 when the Great Danes swept the doubleheader on March 30.
- The Great Danes took the first game in the series, 11-3, in five innings. UAlbany followed with a 7-2 victory.
ABOUT UMASS LOWELL
- The River Hawks are 20-12 on the season with a 5-1 record in the America East.
- Playing four tournaments to open the season, UMass Lowell held a 12-8 record through the first five weeks of play.
- Before the start of conference play, three doubleheaders against Boston University, Sacred Heart, and Merrimack added three losses and three wins.
- To open the conference season, the River Hawks swept Hartford (Apr. 2-3) and split the series against Binghamton (Apr. 9-10) before heading to Maine for a 7-2 victory (Apr. 13).
- Becca Vaillencourt leads the team with a .320 batting average and a .409 on-base percentage.
- Owning a team-high 25 RBI, Cayla Tulley also leads with six home runs and two triples.
- Ryley White leads the pitchers with a 1.43 ERA, tallying nine complete games with 102.2 innings pitched. Notching a 14-3 record in the circle, White has totaled 117 strikeouts and five shutouts.
- In the field, Maria Moccia leads with 169 putouts and seven double-plays while Tori Mueller has tallied a team-high 49 assists.
SERIES AGAINST THE RIVER HAWKS
- UMass Lowell leads the all-time series, 17-14.
- During 2021, the River Hawks swept the regular-season series (Mar. 27-28).
- In the 2021 America East tournament, the Great Danes defeated UMass Lowell, 4-3. Morgan Petty led with two RBI.
PICKED THIRD
- The Great Danes were picked to finish third in the 2022 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- UAlbany tallied 27 points and no first-place votes.
- UMBC topped the poll with 35 points and five first-place votes while Stony Brook followed with 29 points and two first-place votes.
- Binghamton (20), UMass Lowell (18), Maine (12), and Hartford (6) followed to close out the poll.
