GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany opened the 2022 season in Rock Hill, South Carolina at the Winthrop Eagles Tournament (Feb. 18-20) before competing in the 2022 Spring Games at Madeira Beach (Mar. 3-5).
- In South Carolina, the Great Danes went 2-3 with wins against Winthrop and Ball State and losses against Robert Morris (twice) and Youngstown State. UAlbany tallied three wins and two losses in Florida - beating MTSU, Georgia Southern, and Georgetown.
- The Great Danes saw two losses at Towson (3/11) before the rest of the tournament was canceled due to weather.
- UAlbany began 'doubleheader season' at CCSU on March 16. The Great Danes swept the Blue Devils with an 8-1 win for game one and a 14-4 victory in game two.
- Ten days later, UAlbany hosted Colgate for its first home contest. After the Raiders took the first game in eight innings, the Great Danes came back for a shutout victory in game two.
- UAlbany hosted Marist (3/30) for a doubleheader. They split the series taking the first game, 5-4, in eight innings, and the Red Foxes took the second game, 6-5.
- In a non-conference doubleheader, the Great Danes swept Army (4/6) with a win from junior pitcher Wendi Hammond and a walk-off homer from Maddi Petrella.
- UAlbany opened conference play with a series at UMBC (April 2-3) before hosting Maine (April 9-10). The Great Danes went 1-2 against the Retrievers before sweeping Maine, 2-0, for a 3-2 conference record.
AT THE PLATE
- Morgan Petty leads the team batting 28-77 for a .364 batting average and a .727 slugging percentage. The junior owns a team-high six home runs and 31 RBI.
- Maddi Petrella (.355) and Katie Falotico (.329) follow with their respective batting averages.
- Falotico leads the team with 10 doubles. Her .40 doubles per game is good for eighth in the nation.
- Alexis Phillips has hit two triples on the season.
- Three Great Danes have totaled double-digit RBI - Petty has compiled 31 for the team-high while Petrella (19) and Falotico (14) follow.
IN THE FIELD
- Falotico leads the defense with 96 putouts; Petrella follows closely with 87.
- Lové Drumgole leads with 51 assists and six double-plays.
- Falotico (5), Maranda Jimenez (3), and Chloe Lewis (3) follow with their respective double-plays.
- Six different Great Danes have seen the circle.
- Briana Garrett leads with a 2.04 ERA and one shutout. Garrett pitched a complete-game shutout over Colgate (3/26), striking out three and walking none.
- Wendi Hammond has seen the most time with 79.2 innings pitched and 65 strikeouts. The junior has pitched eight complete games with 12 starts and a 7-6 record in the circle.
ABOUT BINGHAMTON
- The Bearcats are 14-14 on the season with a 1-1 record in the America East.
- Binghamton started the season with a 10-10 record in four different tournaments - Bash in the Boro (Statesboro, Ga. - Feb. 11-13), College of Charleston Tournament (Charleston, S.C. - Feb. 18-20), Grand Canyon Tournament (Phoenix, Ariz. - Mar. 4-6), and Maryland Tournament (Mar. 18-20 - College Park, Md.).
- Each doubleheader the Bearcats have seen has been split, 1-1 - Iona (Mar. 26), Colgate (Apr. 5), and UMass Lowell (Apr. 10).
- Alayna Harbaugh leads the team with a .372 batting average and a .455 on-base percentage.
- Three Bearcats own a team-high three home runs - Sarah Rende, Sophia Pappas, and Allison L'Amoreaux.
- Alli Richmond leads with 12 doubles and 15 RBI.
- L'Amoreaux tops the Bearcat pitchers with 87.1 innings pitched and seven complete games for a 7-6 record. Chelsea Howard follows with five complete games and 64.2 innings in the circle.
- In the field, Hailey Ehlers leads with 89 putouts while Makayla Alvarez has tallied a team-high 40 assists and five double-plays.
SERIES AGAINST THE BEARCATS
- The Great Danes lead the Division I series, 47-12.
- During the 2021 season, the series was tied, 2-2.
- UAlbany won both games in the doubleheader on Saturday (Apr. 3, 2021) and Binghamton won both games in the Sunday (Apr. 4, 2021) doubleheader.
- In game one, Morgan Petty and Maddi Petrella each hit a home run. Petrella led with three RBI in the 11-2 win. Maranda Jimenez pitched the five-inning win.
- Game two saw a 6-2 UAlbany victory. Katie Falotico hit a homer while Alexis Phillips notched a triple. Briana Garrett pitched the full game.
- UAlbany held a 2-0 lead after the top of the seventh before Binghamton hit a walk-off homer to take the third game, 4-2, before winning the fourth, 3-2.
ABOUT HARTFORD
- The Hawks are 12-19 on the season with a 1-5 record in the America East.
- Hartford began the season with a 1-3 record at the Norfolk Tournament (Feb. 11-13) before taking on single-opponent trips.
- Going on a five-game win streak, the Hawks took a three-game series against Delaware State (Feb. 19-20) and a doubleheader against Manhattan (Mar. 3). Merrimack won both games in a doubleheader on March 5.
- The Hawks hosted three wins - a DH against Manhattan (Mar. 18) and a single game against Fairfield (Mar. 23) - before going 3-1 at a tournament hosted by Quinnipiac (March 26-27).
- Six losses have come from doubleheaders against Drexel (Mar. 30), Holy Cross (Apr. 5), and Dartmouth (Apr. 6).
- UMass Lowell hosted Hartford to open the conference season. The Hawks fell in all three before hosting UMBC for a three-game conference series - winning one game and falling in two.
- Jordan Nastos leads the team with a .327 batting average while Hailey Cassidy leads with a .418 on-base percentage.
- Mara Sczecienski (four home runs), Cassidy and Chandler Mitchell (two triples), and Cassidy (eight doubles) all own team-highs in their respective multi-base hit categories.
- Julianna Kocenski leads with 93.0 innings in the circle, 56 strikeouts, and six complete games, including two shutouts. Caylee English follows with 74.1 innings in the circle, 31 strikeouts, one shutout, and four complete games. English lead with the sole winning record for a pitcher - 6-4.
- In the field, Cassidy leads with 205 putouts and six double-plays while Paige Fedak has tallied a team-high 61 assists.
SERIES AGAINST THE HAWKS
- The Great Danes lead the series, 41-11.
- During the 2021 season, UAlbany swept Hartford (April 23-24).
- In game one, Wendi Hammond pitched a complete-game shutout with Chloe Lewis hitting a double to bring in the sole run in the 1-0 win.
- For game two, UAlbany took a 5-0 lead after the first inning before winning 9-1. Briana Garrett pitched the five-inning win while every Great Dane tallied at least one hit, five of which saw a multi-base hit, and six Great Danes compiled at least one RBI.
- Tallying her second complete-game win of the weekend, Hammond pitched a strikeout per inning in the 2-1 win to close the series. Morgan Petty and Garrett notched an RBI each.
PICKED THIRD
- The Great Danes were picked to finish third in the 2022 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- UAlbany tallied 27 points and no first-place votes.
- UMBC topped the poll with 35 points and five first-place votes while Stony Brook followed with 29 points and two first-place votes.
- Binghamton (20), UMass Lowell (18), Maine (12), and Hartford (6) followed to close out the poll.
