Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team took both games of Saturday's doubleheader against Iona, pushing the team's win streak to seven games. Quality starting pitching from
Ray Weber and
Anthony Germinerio led the way.
Jason Bottari had five RBIs in game one,
Will Feil led in game two with three of his own.
Coach Jon Mueller: "We got two dominating outings from Weber and Germinerio. Those two have been doing this for years and they were both sharp on a cold day. The defense was very good and offensively we continue to progress.
Jason Bottari has really come a long way and
Will Feil has taken the next step as well. Another great opportunity tomorrow."

How it Happened Game 1:
- Ray Weber started on the mound for UAlbany, Blake Helmstetter started for Iona.
- In the first inning the Great Danes shot out to a 4-0 lead. First, Jason Bottari hit a two-RBI single through the right side to score Johnny Marti and John Daly to go up 2-0. Bottari would steal second and third before scoring on an Iona throwing error to go up 3-0. The final run of the inning came from an RBI single off the bat of Will Binder, scoring Carson Dunkel.
- Iona scored in the bottom of the third to make it 4-1, with Jake Field collecting an RBI single, scoring Nick Carnevale from second.
- Thomas O'Sullivan took the mound for the Gaels to start the fourth.
- UAlbany tacked on three more runs in the fourth. Josh Loeffler tripled to start the inning before Will Feil singled him home to make it 5-1. Bottari later doubled to collect his third and fourth RBIs of the afternoon, scoring Daly and Feil to make it 7-1.
- Three more UAlbany runs crossed home plate in the sixth Brad Malm doubled home Feil, then Bottarti picked up his fifth RBI of the afternoon with another double to score Malm. Dunkel followed up with a ground-rule double of his own to score Bottari and make the score 10-1.
- Joey Kasper took the mound for Iona to start the seventh.
- Kyle McCaffrey pitched the final two innings for UAlbany.
How it Happened Game 2:
- Anthony Germinerio started on the mound for UAlbany in game two, Vincente Mendoza started for Iona.
- UAlbany struck first in the opening inning, scoring two runs. The first run scored as Johnny Marti got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Will Feil. Carson Dunkel singled the next at bat to bring in Brad Malm.
- The Great Danes tacked on another run in the second off of a John Daly double, scoring Brad Malm.
- The Great Danes made it 4-0 in the third when Dunkel led off the inning with a triple, eventually crossing home plate on a Michael Whalen single to right.
- The score became 5-0 in the fourth with a Jason Bottari single to right center, scoring Will Feil.
- In the final inning (seven inning game) UAlbany added three runs to push the lead to 8-0, all coming on a bases-load double from Will Feil.
