- Brad Malm leads the Great Danes with three home runs, seven RBIs, and a 1.091 slugging percentage.

UAlbany opened its 2022 campaign against 16
th ranked SEC opponent Georgia last weekend. Despite a strong performance, the Great Danes lost all three games to the Bulldogs, 2-4, 6-7, and 1-9.

Ray Weber started on the mound for UAlbany on Friday. In four innings pitched, he recorded five strikeouts and allowed three earned runs.
Brad Malm hit a two-run home run to left field in the eighth inning, producing the lone runs of the game for the Great Danes. Â

In the second game of the weekend, the Great Danes took a 4-0 lead over Georgia in the third inning.
Carson Dunkel hit a solo home run, while Malm hit his second two-run home run of the weekend and
Michael Whalen hit a groundout to short, scoring
John Daly. Despite Malm's second two-run home run of the day, third of the weekend, in the eighth inning, Georgia won the game 7-6.
Anthony Germinerio allowed two earned runs, eight hits, and recorded four strikeouts in six innings pitched.

Malm collected his seventh RBI of the weekend on a sac fly to center in game three, scoring
Will Binder. It was the lone scoring play for UAlbany on Sunday.
Cregg Scherrer started the game for the Great Danes, going 2.2. innings while allowing two earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and five walks.
Scouting UMES
The Hawks come into this weekend's four-game series with a 0-3 record after falling to the Longwood Lancers 1-11, 7-11 and 9-15 this past weekend. In the third game of the weekend, UMES was in a good position to take their first win of the year, leading the Lancers 8-2 at the end of the fifth inning. Longwood bounced back in the sixth with seven runs, four off of a grand slam, to take the lead and later win 9-15.

As a team, UMES collected 26 hits, 17 total runs, two home runs, and batted .265 in their first series. Senior catcher Tyler Woodward leads the team with five hits, one home run, five RBIs and nine total bases. He sits with a .385 batting average after the first three games of the season. Two Hawks were recognized by the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference for their performance during the opening weekend. First baseman Alex McCoy received MEAC Rookie of the Week honors. He scored four runs, collected three walks and stole one base. Graduate pitcher Evan Nibblett struck out three and allowed two runs, one earned, in five innings pitched on Sunday. He was named on the MEAC Top Performers list.

2022 America East Preseason Poll
The UAlbany baseball team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2022 America East Coaches' Poll. The Great Danes earned 34 points in the annual poll, finishing ahead of Maine (27 points), UMass Lowell (18 points), UMBC (12 points) and Hartford (10 points). Stony Brook, 2021 regular-season champions and tournament finalist, was selected first, receiving 46 points and four first-place votes. Close behind, NJIT earned three first-place votes and a total of 40 points. Binghamton came in third with 37 points and a single first-place vote. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own team.
