Short Story: The University at Albany men's basketball team dropped the first game of the Greenlight Sunshine Slam to Austin Peay, 74-59. In a game that featured 14 lead changes, the Governors were able to pull away in the final minutes thanks to a 13-0 scoring run. With the loss, the Great Danes will now play at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow night against the loser of the Bucknell vs. Presbyterian matchup.

How it Happened:
- Austin Peay jumped out to a 9-5 lead by the first media TO. UAlbany went 2-2 from the field with buckets from Gerald Drumgoole Jr. and Aaron Reddish but was plagued by four early turnovers.
- UAlbany tied the score by the send media TO, 13-13. Reddish, Tairi Ketner, and Sarju Patel all had three points each.
- The Governors re-took a three-point advantage by the U8 media, leading 17-14. UAlbany forced turnovers, but still led 5-3 in the stat book.
- Following a three-pointer within the final minute from Da'Kquan Davis, UAlbany brought a 32-30 lead into the locker room at halftime.
- UAlbany shot 40% (10-25) from the field and 36.4% (4-11) from three in the first half. Austin Peay shot 48% from the field (12-25) and just 16.7% (1-6) from three.
- By the first media TO of the second half, the score read 36-35 in favor of the Great Danes. All four points for UAlbany came from Drumgoole Jr.
- In a back-and-forth game, the Great Danes re-took the lead at the U12 TO following and and-1 from Davis, 47-46. UAlbany started the second half 6-8 from the field.
- The Governors hit the free throw line and took a 55-53 advantage following the U8 media TO with 7:58 on the clock.
- Austin Peay led 57-55 with 4:36 remaining. Following a TO on the court, a technical foul was called on the Governors' Guy Fauntleroy – sending Davis to the line for UAlbany, tying the game.
- Shortly after, a foul was called on UAlbany's Marcus Jackson, with a technical being issued after the play was over. The questionable call resulted in a four-point swing for the Governors.
- The Governors used that momentum to go on a 13-0 run, putting them up 69-57 by the two-minute warning – a deficit the Great Danes could not overcome.
- UAlbany shot 43.5% (10-23) from the field and went just 1-11 from three in the second half. Austin Peay shot 50% (12-24) from the field and 28.6% (2-7) from three.
