GREAT DANE REWIND
  • Seeing their first weekend of competition since the NCAA Tournament in 2022, the Great Danes opened the season 2-0.
  • Hosting Merrimack on Friday, November 11, UAlbany defeated the Warriors, 67-53. 
  • In the annual Albany Cup, the Great Danes won for the second-straight year with a 64-57 final score over Siena on November 13.
  • Graduate student Ellen Hahne leads the team with a .581 field goal percentage and 23.5 points per game. She has added a team-high eight assists and two steals.
  • Sophomore Freja Werth leads with 8.0 rebounds per game, tallying a team-high 11 defensive rebounds. Senior Taniya Hanner tops the team with six offensive rebounds.
  • Freshman Marie Sepp is tied with Hahne, notching two steals. 
  • A local of the Capital Region, senior Grace Heeps leads the Great Danes with two blocks.
 
ABOUT NAVY
  • The Mids opened the season with two losses in the first week of play. 
  • Heading to William and Mary on November 7, Navy fell 79-64 before losing to Air Force, 90-50, on the road (Nov. 11). 
  • Kate Samson leads the team with a .727 field goal percentage. She also leads on defense with 7.0 rebounds per game and four blocks.
  • With a .526 FG%, Maren Louridas leads from outside the arc, making four of her seven attempts.
  • Also, 100% accurate from the free-throw line, Sydne Watts owns a team-high 16.5 points per game.
  • Three Mids have tallied three assists.
 
SERIES AGAINST THE MIDSHIPMEN
  • The series is tied, 3-3.
  • This will be Colleen Mullen's first contest against Navy as the head coach of UAlbany.
  • The most recent meeting between the Midshipmen and the Great Danes was a win in 2003.
 
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
  • Bryant and UAlbany top the conference with a 2-0 start.
  • Seeing three games each, Binghamton and New Hampshire also have two wins each.
  • Maine sits even with one win and one loss.
  • NJIT and UMBC are tied for sixth with one win in three contests each.

WHAT'S UP, PRESEASON
  • With seven first-place votes and 59 total points, the Great Dane women's basketball team was picked to finish first in the conference in the preseason coaches' poll. Maine was just behind them with 54 points while Vermont came in third with 46 points and one first-place vote.
  • Last season's offensive and defensive leaders, respectively, Helene Haegerstrand and Kayla Cooper were named to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team.
  • UAlbany added three new players to the roster for the 2022-23 season - Taylor Moffat, Karyn Sanford, and Marie Sepp.

  • UAlbany has expanded its partnership with ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team and City Line Bar & Grill.
  • Coaches Colleen Mullen and Dwayne Killings, along with select student-athletes, will join ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team's Charlie Voelker and Dan Bahl every Monday from 6-7 pm live from City Line Bar & Grill for a weekly segment entitled 'Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops'.
  • Fans are invited to come out to City Line Bar & Grill to join Coach Mullen, Coach Kills, the student-athletes, and the ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team crew. 
  • Food and drink specials will be available on a weekly basis as the teams embark on their new seasons and talk hoops every Monday.
