Quick Facts: A tenured basketball athlete in Norway, Sanford has seen time competing in the European Championship, Nordic Championships, and U16 and U19 Norwegian Championships. Throughout these four championship opportunities, she has totaled three MVP awards and five All-Star honors. Competing for Norway on the U16 National Team in 2017 and 2018, Sanford represented her country in the European Girls Basketball League for three seasons (2017-2020). Most recently, she tallied 18 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds in two games at the Eurocup Qualifiers in 2021. With the Ulriken Eagles, a Kvinneligaen league, she averaged 16.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 2.4 steals in 21 games.

As a decorated member of the Norwegian National team, Karyn brings a wealth of experience with her to UAlbany. Karyn is a dynamic guard, who excels at multiple positions. She is strong and athletic and creates difficult mismatches for her opponents. Her ability to shoot from long range and create off the dribble, stretches the defense allowing her to utilize her court vision to create for teammates and make defenses pay. We expect Karyn to make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor.
