ALBANY, N.Y. - The #21 UAlbany field hockey team is set to host two home games this weekend.

GREAT DANE REWIND 
  • After six weeks of play, UAlbany was voted 21st in the country by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's Penn Monto Division I National Poll on October 4, 2022.
  • UAlbany opened the season with an explosive 5-2 victory over Northeastern. It was the Great Danes' first win in the all-time series against the Huskies.
  • Facing two nationally-ranked teams - #22 Ohio State (8/28) and #11 Penn State (9/3), UAlbany saw its first two losses.
  • The Great Danes won five-straight games against Fairfield (9/4), Colgate (9/9), Cornell (9/11), Yale (9/18), and California (9/23). 
  • After securing their first America East win over the Golden Bears, the Black Bears snapped the Great Danes' win streak with a win in shootouts on September 25.
  • Most recently, UAlbany tallied two double-overtime wins over Vermont (9/30) and #16 Boston College (10/2). Sophomores Floor de Ruiter and Alison Smisdom each notched a game-winning goal over the weekend.
  • Smisdom leads the team with 11 goals, 21 points, and the lone defensive save of the season.
  • Graduate student Luisa Knapp follows with 14 points from five goals and four assists.
  • With six assists, sophomore Blanca Orsola owns a team-high.
  • Senior goalie Hannah Mangan has started nine games. In 603:26 minutes, she owns a 1.39 goals against average and a .720 save percentage. Against Boston College, she made a career-high 10 saves.
 
ABOUT STANFORD
  • Playing eight games in 2022, the Cardinal owns a 3-5 record with a 1-2 conference record. 
  • Stanford opened their season with an overtime win against Holy Cross (8/26), before falling to #4 Maryland (8/29).
  • The Cardinal picked up its second win against Michigan State (9/4) in a shootout. 
  • Before conference play began, Stanford matched up against #2 UNC, losing 6-0. 
  • Stanford opened America East play 0-2, falling to UMass Lowell (9/16) and Vermont (9/18).
  • Picking up its first conference win, the Cardinal shutout UC Davis (9/25) in a 5-0 victory. 
  • Rose Winter leads the team with three goals and three assists for a total of nine points
  • Haley Mosser and Lynn Vanderstichele follow with two goals and one assist each for five points.       
  • Daisy Ford has stood in goal for 313:50 minutes of play. With 10 goals against and 19 saves, she owns a 1.91 goals against average and a .655 save percentage.
 
SERIES AGAINST THE CARDINAL  
  • Stanford leads the all-time series, 6-4.
  • The Great Danes and the Cardinal went against each other twice in the 2021 season. After a 2-1 victory in the regular season, UAlbany defeated Stanford, 1-0, in the America East Quarterfinal.
  • Floor de Ruiter scored the first and only goal of the quarterfinal during a penalty corner late into the second quarter.
  • In their first matchup of 2021, Alison Smisdom scored the first goal while Floor de Ruiter tallied the eventual game-winning goal.
 
ABOUT UC DAVIS
  • The Aggies have a record of 1-8 with a 0-3 record in the America East. 
  • Opening their season 0-2 with losses to Holy Cross (8/27) and Michigan State (9/2), UC Davis' only win of the season came against Bellarmine University (9/4) in a 4-2 win.
  • Following the win, the Aggies went on a six-game losing streak, losing to Indiana (9/5), Wake Forest (9/9), Vermont (9/16), UMass Lowell (9/18), Quinnipiac (9/19) and Stanford (9/25). 
  • Brooke Sanchez leads the Aggies with four goals. Four players follow - each scoring two goals this season.
  • Lizzy Tedrow and Milou Korthouwer lead the team in assists, picking up three each. 
  • Kalli Wagnon has played 358:02 minutes in goal. She owns a .564 save percentage and a 4.02 goals against average.

  • UAlbany has an undefeated record against UC Davis, 5-0
  • The most recent matchup was a 5-4 UAlbany win at home, in 2021.
  • Alison Smisdom notched a hat trick, while Julie Rodijk and Charlotte Triggs tallied a goal each. 

AROUND THE AMERICA EAST 
  • Maine leads the America East with an undefeated record of 3-0. 
  • Vermont and UMass Lowell follow with three wins while UAlbany and California own two each.
  • Stanford and New Hampshire sit tied for sixth place with one win and two losses.
  • Bryant (0-3) and UC Davis (0-4) are looking for their first America East win.
