How it Happened
- In the 6th minute, Guillermo Mijancos, making his first start of the season, played a through ball in to Andrew Weiner, who broke past the Rhode Island defense up the shallow right side. Weiner's ground shot to the far post missed the Rams' goalkeeper, Stefan Schmidt, and gave UAlbany an early lead.
- Shortly after, in the 8th minute, Rhode Island drew a penalty kick, and former Great Dane Hugo Guerra converted past UAlbany goalkeeper Shafique Wilson, making his second start of the season, to tie the game at one.
- Tuesday marked the first game this season in which UAlbany did not participate in a shutout. In each of its four previous victories, UAlbany had not allowed a goal, and the Great Danes had not scored a goal in each of their previous three defeats.
- With just seconds before halftime, UAlbany drew a corner kick on the right side of the Rhode Island goal. Austin DaSilva's serve found Ricardo Rego who knocked the ball into the goal to put UAlbany back on top, 2-1, heading into the break.
- Guerra found the back of the net again, tying the game, 2-2, in the 73rd minute on a setup from Patrick Agyemang. The score would remain the same through the remainder of regulation, sending UAlbany to its second overtime game of the season.
- Wilson made a kick-save on a Rhode Island breakaway in the 93rd minute, one of his 12 of the game, to prevent a Rams victory.
- In the 105th minute, Adam Aoumaich found Austin DaSilva on the right side of the field. DaSilva broke down a Rhode Island defender and fired a shot near post, past Schmidt for the goal. It was DaSilva's first score of the season, and it claimed victory for UAlbany, 3-2.
