Short Story: Adam Aoumaich's tie-breaking goal in the 87th minute propels men's soccer to their first conference win of the season 2-1 over Binghamton.

Coach Trevor Gorman"Today was a good fight back from our guys. We controlled the game statistically the whole way through, but put ourselves in a hole giving up a goal in the first half. We talked at halftime about sticking with it and trusting the breakthrough would come. Credit to our guys for doing that and we really should have had more. We'll look forward to another week to train and get better.

How it Happened
  • UAlbany controlled the early pressure and Austin DaSilva produced the first shot that went high. Binghamton's Noah Luescher, who scored two goals in the first meeting between the teams, produced the first shot on goal that was turned aside by Carlos Tofern.
  • In the 28th minute, the Bearcats scored the game's first goal off a rebound. Luescher took a shot that beat Tofern but hit the right post. The ball took a perfect bounce off the post to the foot of Cooper Sayles who scored and gave Binghamton a 1-0 lead.
  • The goal held up as the only one of the half and Binghamton led 1-0 in the game and 5-4 in shots.
  • In the second half, UAlbany produced most of the pressure and was able to convert when DaSilva scored the Great Danes' first goal of the game in the 74th minute. He carried the ball down the left side and took a shot that beat Binghamton goalkeeper Mats Roorda and tied the game 1-1.
  • 13 minutes later, Adam Aoumaich scored the tie-breaking goal in the 87th minute. DaSilva sent a pass from the corner flag that deflected off Guillermo Mijancos to Aoumaich and Aoumaich buried the shot from 15 yards out.
  • His third goal of the season held up as the game-winner and UAlbany earned its first conference win of the season 2-1 over Binghamton.
