How it Happened
  • The game began with three shots blocked, two for UAlbany and one for Syracuse in the first 7:37 of play. Syracuse took the first two shots towards goal, the second resulting in a Noah Singlemann goal at 11:49 that gave Syracuse a 1-0 lead.
  • Singlemann scored the game's first goal after taking a pass from Hilli Goldhar and beat first-half UAlbany goalkeeper Carlos Morehouse. UAlbany did not generate a shot on goal until Austin DaSilva's shot that Syracuse goalkeeper Russell Shealy saved.
  • A Syracuse shot high at the 42:28 mark was the only shot directed towards goal in the final 19 minutes and the Orange took a 1-0 lead into the half.
  • At halftime, UAlbany made a goalkeeper switch from Morehouse to junior transfer Carlos Tofern after Morehouse gave up a goal on the only shot he faced.
  • In the second half, UAlbany took the only three shots of the half, all-three on goal. The third shot led to UAlbany's unassisted game-tying goal by freshman Adam Aoumaich.
  • Aoumaich scored his first goal for the Great Danes at 84:04 and tied the game 1-1 heading into overtime. Two yellow cards were issued in the second half, one to UAlbany's Riccardo Iafrate and one to Syracuse's Camden Holbrook.
  • Syracuse produced the only first overtime shot, a Manel Busquets shot on goal that was saved by Tofern. There was another yellow card handed out in the first overtime to UAlbany's Alex Bourgeois.
  • The Orange kept pressure on the Great Danes in the second overtime with three shots, including one that hit the crossbar and one shot to the lower left corner that Torfern turned aside.
  • There was one more yellow card to Syracuse's Busquets at 107:11 and one more shot, an Anton Frisberg shot high, before the clubs played to a 1-1 final.
  • UAlbany was outshot by Syracuse 4-1 in overtime after holding the Orange to no shots in the second half. Each team was handed two yellow cards, including three in the final 25 minutes.
