Short Story: Cross country wraps its 2021 fall season with one final meet in Boston at this year's Northeast Regional Championships.

How it Happened
- Tess Fitzmaurice once again paced UAlbany as the Great Danes' top finisher, crossing the line 118th in 22:52. Behind her, Noreen Guilfoyle finished 158th in 23:27, followed by Kaitlyn Iocca in 23:34.
- Sydney Coddington, 182nd in 23:58, and Lejla Hrelja, 187th in 24:02, rounded out UAlbany's five scoring performers.
- Also competing for UAlbany was Samantha Rutt, 196th in 24:10, and Mercedes Planavsky, 211th in 24:30.
- The women's scoring gap was 1:10.
- Syracuse senior Amanda Vestri claimed the individual title in 20:05, ahead of Yale senior Kayley Delay, 20:28, and Binghamton senior and 2021 America East individual champion Emily Mackay, 20:36. Harvard claimed the team title, scoring 71 points, ahead of runner-up Syracuse's 81.
- The men only fielded three competitors and, as a result, did not qualify for team scoring. Antonio Beltran placed 148th in 33:46, Jared Rogalski placed 180th in 34:30, and Keveroy Venson placed 192nd in 34:56.
- Iona senior Ehab El-Sandali claimed a narrow individual victory over Harvard freshman Graham Blanks, 30:03 to 30:04. Syracuse won the team title, scoring 51 points, ahead of runner-up Harvard's 68, and second runner-up Iona's 77.
- Both the women and the men competed at their longer distances, 6K and 10K respectively, for the first time this season. The men usually do not get a meet at 10K before regionals, but without Lehigh's Paul Short Meet on the schedule this season, the women did not have their traditional in-season 6K meet before championship season.
- Fellow America East member institution UMass Lowell hosted this year's regional championship meet. The River Hawk women placed seventh overall and the men placed sixth.
Next: The 2021 UAlbany cross country season is over, and the student-athletes will join their track & field teammates in preparation for the 2021-22 indoor season.
