How it Happened
- In the 18th minute, Austin DaSilva broke through the Hartford defense on a breakaway set up by a through ball, and cut right and around the Hartford Rotem Fadida. DaSilva's touch pushed the ball just a bit too far and his shot on the open net went high over the goal from such a shallow angle.
- Pantelis Panteli ripped a shot off a free-kick on target in the 30th minute. Fadida dived to his left and punched the ball over the crossbar to save a goal, leading to a UAlbany corner kick.
- UAlbany caught Fadida out of position in the 69th minute, when a long restart from UAlbany goalkeeper Carlos Tofern was flicked forward to DaSilva, who once again beat Fadida and saw himself faced with an open net. DaSilva's shot fell wide beyond the far post after being deflected by a Hartford defender who dropped back into the net to cover Fadida.
- Despite UAlbany outshooting Hartford 15-3 in regulation, neither team broke through in 90 minutes, and the Great Danes entered their third overtime session of the season.
- Hartford put forth its best scoring chance of the night in the second minute of overtime, earning an open shot from the top left corner that missed the target near post and just high. Â UAlbany's counterattack also threatened to break the scoreless tie, but came up equally empty.
- Adam Aoumaich received a pass in the Hartford box on the left side and ripped a shot from just beyond the top corner of the six-yard box far post past Fadida in the 96th minute to break the tie and end the game with a 1-0 victory for the Great Danes.
- Hartford equaled their shot total from regulation in overtime, finishing with six total shots. UAlbany's defense did not allow any of the Hawks' shots to threaten the goal, leaving Tofern untested all night for his fourth shutout of the season.
Next: UAlbany hosts UMass Lowell on October 13.
