Head Coach Trevor Gorman: "It's always a big challenge to win away in October and we showed great character to come from behind.  It was a tricky matchup and full credit to Colgate, they're always a program that plays to the highest standard.  We were disappointed with the goal we gave up against the run of play but found good moments in the second half.  All focus goes to the conclusion of conference play now."

How it Happened
  • In the 21st minute, Colgate broke through on a goal from Edward Bass.  Bass received the ball in the middle of the UAlbany box, off a draw from Jacob Blackwin.  Bass one-touched the ball past UAlbany goalkeeper Shafique Wilson.
  • UAlbany created a dangerous chance late in the first half, when Pantelis Panteli fired a shot from deep in the 35th minute rolled through the Colgate defense and low, missing just off the left post.
  • Andrew Weiner, on a leading pass from Giuliano Lucca, scored to tie the game at one in the 60th minute.  Weiner's shot from the far right side made it through the Colgate defense into the far side netting, sliding under a diving Colgate goalkeeper, Andrew Cooke.
  • Three minutes later, Guillermo Mijancos scored to put UAlbany up 2-1, driving the ball to the bottom left corner off a setup from Vinicius Giannaccini, who made his first start of the season.
  • With less than five minutes remaining, Wilson charged a Colgate serve, but the ball was bounced high over his head.  Lucas Watt, who dropped back to cover the open goal, gathered the ball before it could fall into the net to prevent a Colgate equalizing score.
  • Colgate earned a free kick in the final 30 seconds with one last effort to tie the game and force overtime, but the ball ended up in Wilson's hands to end the game with UAlbany on top by the same score, 2-1.
  • UAlbany finished the game outshooting Colgate 14-1, holding the Raiders without a shot in the second half.  UAlbany also drew six corner kicks to Colgate's two.  Weiner has now scored three goals on the season, matching Haflidi Sigurdarson for the team lead.
Next: UAlbany visits Vermont on October 23.
