Key Stats
- Giuliano Lucca scored his second goal of the season
- UAlbany outshot UMBC 11-4 in the first half, and 21-9 overall
- UAlbany drew eight corner kicks to UMBC's three
- UMBC's Quantrell Jones made all six of his saves in the first half
Head Coach Trevor Gorman: "We have to be pleased with today's performance, if not completely satisfied with the result. Our guys were on the front foot, had control of the game, had 21 shots, and created a lot of good chances. Sometimes that still doesn't get the three points though and we will focus on positives heading into the important games ahead."

How it Happened
- UAlbany's first scoring chance came in the sixth minute. The Great Danes drew a free kick deep in UMBC territory. Austin DaSilva took an attempt on goal with the free kick, and his shot ricocheted off the top left corner of the goal frame.
- Shortly after, Andrew Weiner took an off-balance shot in the UMBC box, into the body of UMBC goalkeeper Quantrell Jones.
- UMBC scored in the 31st minute when Taylor Calheira took a shot off the left post. The ball bounced back to William Forby who took a shot on an open net to go up 1-0.
- UAlbany responded in the 35th minute. Jones charged a UAlbany serve and made contact with Andrew Weiner in the box. The ensuing loose ball landed at Vinicius Giannaccini's feet, who pushed a pass to Giuliano Lucca in front of an open net with Jones still out of position to tie the game at one.
- DaSilva had another shot attempt off a free kick in the 74th minute. He fired his shot low through the UMBC defense and just wide right off target.
- UAlbany had a chance to score in the final minute of regulation, when DaSilva set up Saad Faiz on a draw that was blocked by UMBC's final defender. The game proceeded to overtime tied at one.
- UAlbany outshot UMBC 3-0 in the first overtime, and 4-2 for the total 20 extra minutes, but was unable to break through, while its defense prevented the Retrievers from doing the same. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, UAlbany's first tie of the 2021 season.Â
