SHORT STORY: Each set began close as the Great Danes were able to take three sets towards the end of each at NJIT, Sunday afternoon.
COACH JOSH PICKARD: "It's always great to get a win in conference. This was our first trip to NJIT and they pushed us. They had sustained service pressure and I was happy with how our passing went for the day. Each time we are on the court, we see how we can get better and this was no different."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Great Danes started with the first point but the Highlanders jumped to a 4-1 lead before UAlbany tied it up at 4.
- The set continued back-and-forth with NJIT earning the second two-point lead, 11-9, before the Great Danes went on a six-point run to take the lead and keep it for a 25-17 set win.
- The second set began similar to the first, with back-and-forth action. The first two-point lead was NJIT's at 10-8 but it did not last as UAlbany came back and continued the back-and-forth.
- With a 21-19 lead, the Great Danes went on a 4-1 scoring run to take the second set, 25-20.
- UAlbany once again earned the first point in the third set going on to gain the first two-point lead, 4-2.
- As the Highlanders and the Great Danes continued to take turns earning points, the score increased. NJIT tallied a four-point run to take a 20-14 lead that UAlbany could not overcome, falling 25-18 in the third set.
- The Highlanders capitalized on their success and opened the fourth set with a 7-4 lead.
- An interruption caused by the loss of lights in the New Jersey gym proved fruitful for the Great Danes as it led to a three-point run to tie the score before a four-point run for a 14-11 lead.
- Though play continued back-and-forth, the Highlanders were unable to catch up and UAlbany took the set, 25-17, for the match win, 3-1.
NEXT: The Great Danes will continue on the road for their next two matches at New Hampshire (Oct. 15) and Hartford (Oct. 17).
