COACH PHIL SYKES: "We earned two huge wins this weekend and I'm very proud of our team. Every conference game is a grind and even in the final seconds [New Hampshire] had an opportunity to tie up. One can never relax in these games and I'm super proud of our team for all the work they've done to keep their energy levels through the last second."

KEY STATS
  • For the sixth time this season, each goal scored by a Great Dane was off a freshman's stick.
  • Floor de Ruiter scored the third goal of her career to tie the game.
  • Alison Smisdom tallied her 10th goal of the season to make the game-winning goal with a successful penalty stroke.
  • Sophomore Jannelle Volk completed her fourth defensive save to stop a Wildcat goal that would have given New Hampshire a lead in the third quarter.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UAlbany started off with possession, tallying the first shot of the game in the seventh minute.
  • The Wildcats took the wide shot and brought it down to their offensive end to score the first goal at 8:47.
  • Just over two minutes into the second quarter, Floor de Ruiter scored the first Great Dane goal. In an incredible maneuver, she lifted the ball to the opposite corner of the net just before crossing the endline.
  • The third quarter saw early offensive pressure from UAlbany and a late push from New Hampshire but neither team was able to get to the back of the goal.
  • Late in the third quarter, Jannelle Volk backed up freshman goalie Lara Behn to stop the Wildcats from gaining the lead.
  • Freshman Isabella Del Vecchio drew the goalie for a shot but ended up grabbing a penalty stroke for the Great Danes with 13:52 on the fourth-quarter clock.
  • Alison Smisdom went four-for-four securing a successful stroke attempt and the game-winning goal for UAlbany.
