Short Story: After falling in walk off fashion to Columbia in game one of the day,
Alexis Phillips' three-run triple and
Maranda Jimenez's strong performance in the circle led UAlbany to a victory against Merrimack in the second game, splitting day two of the Spring Games.

Opening the second day of the Spring Games, the University at Albany softball team fell to Columbia in walk off fashion by a score of 2-1
Starting her first collegiate game in the circle, Hammond cruised through six innings but ran into trouble in the seventh. After Columbia tied the contest with two outs, the Lions had the bases loaded and walked off with an RBI single.
UAlbany tallied their lone run of the game in the top of the third. After Phillips doubled, a single by Petty and fielding error by the left fielder brought her home to make it 1-0.
Columbia threatened in the bottom of the fifth with the bases loaded, but Hammond got a batter to line into a double play to end the inning.
In the bottom of the seventh, Hammond got two quick outs will a double in between, but that that double eventually came around to score on an RBI single to tie the game up. A throwing error prolonged the inning followed by a walk to load the bases full of Lions, and Columbia sealed the victory on an RBI single.

- Petrella went 2-3 with two RBIs, and hit her first collegiate home run.
- Phillips went 2-3 with two RBIs.
- Lové Drumgole tallied a hit, and scored two runs.
- Kaycee Hawk notched her first collegiate hit.

After falling to Columbia in the first game of the day, the Great Danes bounced back with a 6-1 victory over Merrimack.
After Petrella hit an RBI single in the first to give UAlbany a 1-0 lead, the Great Danes tallied five runs in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, Phillips hit a bases-clearing triple to give UAlbany a 4-0 lead. The Great Danes then added two more runs on a sac fly and a Petrella solo homer, the first of her collegiate career.
In the circle, Jimenez went all seven innings, only giving up one run and picked up her first win of the season.
The Great Danes got on the board quickly in the top of the first after Drumgole reached base, Petrella eventually brought her home on an RBI single.
UAlbany had a big five-run inning in the fifth. After the Great Danes loaded the bases, Phillips cleared them on an RBI triple. The Great Danes then added a run plating Phillips on a sac fly, and then Petrella's first collegiate home run.
Merrimack scored its lone run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, and that was all they were able push across.
