UAlbany softball Head Coach
Chris Cannata announced the Great Danes' 2020 schedule. The 43-game slate features a 28-game road trip to start the season, including 11 games in the state of Florida.
The Great Danes will open the season in Florida at the Madeira Beach Spring Invitational, February 21-23. UAlbany will face Cornell and Providence on Day 1, followed by games against Columbia and Merrimack the following day. The weekend wraps up with a Sunday morning match-up with Manhattan.Â
A return trip to Florida is next for the Great Danes as they head to Longwood, Fla. for The Spring Games. The six-game tournament starts on February 28 with games against Western Michigan and Dartmouth. UAlbany then battles Loyola Chicago and FIU the next day, before closing the weekend out on Sunday with an 8:30 am game against Detroit Mercy followed by a rematch with Loyola Chicago.Â
After 12 days off, the Great Danes head to Lynchburg, Va, for the Liberty Softball Challenge, where they will take on the host Flames twice in addition to UMass, Rhode Island and Northern Illinois.Â
UAlbany then plays a three-game series at Mount St. Mary's the following weekend, then plays a doubleheader at Holy Cross on Wednesday, March 25.
America East play then begins on 3/28 with three games at 2019 America East Tournament Runner-up Stony Brook. The Great Danes then step back out of conference for a doubleheader at Colgate the following weekend before a mid-week doubleheader at America East rival Hartford.Â
UAlbany plays in front of its home fans for the first time on April 11 when Maine comes to town for a big three-game America East series. The Great Danes immediately hit the road again for a Wednesday doubleheader at Army in the final non-conference date of the season.Â
The final six home games of the season are huge as they are against defending America East regular season champion UMass Lowell, April 18-19, and Binghamton, April 25-26.
The regular season concludes at defending America East Champion UMBC, May 1-2.Â
The top six teams in the conference will then advance to the America East Tournament hosted by Binghamton University.
