Short Story: Leading by nearly 40 points after Day One, the UAlbany women's track & field team won their seventh consecutive America East Indoor Championship title behind 213 points and nine event wins.

Award Winners

  • Chidinma Matthew earned the Coaches' Award for compiling the most points by a female student-athlete during the weekend.
  • Shelby Bigsby was tabbed the Most Outstanding Rookie after winning the shot put and placing second in the weight throw.
  • Lynda Brundige was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer after winning the triple jump.
  • The UAlbany Coaching Staff was named the Coaching Staff of the Year.

How It Happened

  • Lynda Brundige won the women's triple jump in 40-02.25 (9th all-time); Hailey Thornton placed sixth in 37-08.75 (17th all-time); Alexis Toth jumped 36-04.00 (23rd all-time).
  • Anika Hibbard won the women's high jump in 5-07.00. This is Hibbard's third straight indoor title and fifth overall high jump title.
  • Shelby Bigsby won the women's shot put in 48-01.25. Her distance set a new freshman record and is second all-time; Adelaide Cooke placed fourth in 45-01.00 (7th all-time); Samantha Ferrero placed sixth in 42-03.25.
  • Chibugo Ike placed third in the women's 60 meter hurdles in 8.66; Sophia Myers placed fifth in 8.69; Asia Jinks placed eighth in 9.05.
  • Jinks placed third in the women's 400 meter dash in 55.31 (4th all-time); Jonel Lacey placed sixth in 57.04.
  • Solange Wright placed fourth in the women's 500 meter dash in 1:16.08 (22nd all-time).
  • Chidinma Matthew won the women's 60 meter dash in 7.58; Jahari Coleman placed second in 7.70.
  • Samantha Rutt placed eighth in the women's 800 meter run in 2:15.89 (12th all-time).
  • Kaylah Quarshie placed third in the women's 1000 meter run in 2:52.30 (5th all-time); Kait Butterfield's time of 3:00.94 is 23rd all-time.
  • Matthew won the women's 200 meter dash in 24.12 (2nd all-time); Coleman placed third in 24.63 (8th all-time).
  • Hannah Reinhardt won the women's 3000 meter run in 9:33.67 (3rd all-time); Cara Sherman placed second in 9:42.15; Kelly Iocca placed eighth in 9:59.76 (14th all-time).
  • The women's 4x800 meter relay team of Alicia Grady, Rutt, Kaitlyn Butterfield and Quarshie placed seventh in 9:24.21.
  • The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Jinks, Matthew, Wright and Lacey won in 3:46.28, missing the meet record by 0.02 seconds.
