UAlbany Defeats CCSU In Double-Header

Score: Game 1: UAlbany 4, Central Connecticut 2 / Game 2: UAlbany 7, Central Connecticut 4

Short Story: UAlbany defeated Central Connecticut in a double-header on Wednesday, March 28th. The games took place at the University at Albany beginning at 2:00 PM.

Recap

Chelsea Henige's first hit of the day was a home run that resulted in an RBI triple, bringing Kelly Spear and Amelia Ely around to score. The score remained 3-0 until the fourth inning, when Central Connecticut's Debrosse and McNulla scored back-to-back home runs. In the fifth inning, Amelia Ely doubled to right center field and advanced to third on the next play, when Kelly Spear grounded out to first. Chelsea Henige then singled to left field, which brought Amelia Ely in to score the fourth run of the game. The Great Danes held off the Blue Devils for the rest of the game for a final score of 4-2.

The Great Danes brought the same intensity to the second game. Aliyah Wade opened the first inning with a single to left field, followed by stealing second base. Amelia Ely then hit an RBI triple to center field, bringing Aliyah Wade home. Kelly Spear kept the momentum going with an RBI single that brought Ely around to score. Sarah Petzold and Maranda Jimenez both hit RBI singles later in the first inning to give the Great Danes a four run lead. By the top of the fifth inning, the game was tied 4-4 after Central Connecticut scored three runs in the third inning and one in the fifth. The Great Danes responded by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, one off of an RBI single by Kelly Barkevich and two off of an RBI single by Sarah Petzold. UAlbany won the second game 7-4.

The Great Danes will take the field again on March 31st and April 1st in Stony Brook, New York where they will compete against Stony Brook in a double header on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
