Home Runs Power Stony Brook Past Softball, 8-0

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook knocked four home runs, accounting for seven of the team's eight runs Friday afternoon at University Field, overcoming the University at Albany softball team 8-0 in five innings. With the defeat, the Great Danes are now 30-15 overall and 10-4 in the America East, while the Seawolves improved to 23-21-2 on the season and 10-5 in conference play.
Stony Brook scored three runs in the bottom of the first on a solo home run by Allie Pisciotta and a two-run blast by Diane Caruso.
In the second, Pisciotta and Caruso teamed up again with an RBI single and a three-run homer, respectively, giving the Seawolves a 7-0 advantage.
Stony Brook stretched the margin to eight on Chelsea Evans leadoff home run in the bottom of the third.
Sophomore Devin Durando (15-8) took the loss, while Jane Sallen (15-12) earned the win, holding UAlbany to one hit.
Up next, the Great Danes close out the regular season with Saturday's doubleheader versus the Seawolves beginning at 12 p.m.
