BOX SCORE

ALBANY, N.Y. – A pitcher's duel through and through, the University at Albany softball team slipped to the University of Maine Sunday at Albany Field, 2-0. The Great Danes are now 13-8 on the season and 0-1 in conference play, while Maine improved to 12-13 overall and 1-0 in the America East.

Combining for only five hits total, Maine starter Alexis Bogdanovich and UAlbany freshman hurler Devin Durando limited the opposite offense to just two hits and three hits, respectively.

Bogdanovich (7-3) earned the win, striking out 10 in the complete-game, while Durando (7-2) took the loss despite holding the Black Bears to one earned run, while striking out five.

Maine took the lead for good in the third on Erika Leonard's leadoff home run. The Black Bears added a second in the sixth, stringing together a single, a walk, and a sac bunt, setting up a run-scoring passed ball.

The Great Danes looked to rally in the seventh, as Maggie Cocks belted a double to center, but Bogdanovich recorded the final two outs of the game to secure the win for Maine.

Cocks and junior Kelly Costello represented the Danes' two hits in the game.

UAlbany and Maine will continue the series on Monday with a doubleheader beginning at 11:30 a.m.
