STONY BROOK – The University at Albany baseball team was swept Saturday afternoon at Stony Brook's Joe Nathan Field, falling 7-0 and 6-2 to the hosting Seawolves.

Stony Brook's Frankie Vanderka (2-2) tossed a no-hitter in game one's nine-inning contest with 10 strikeouts and two walks, earning the win.

For UAlbany, Daniel Castro (0-1) took the loss, allowing six runs and seven hits in 2.1 innings of work. Out of the pen, Andrew Jaurique struck out five and held the Seawolves to one unearned run and three hits in 4.2 frames. Closer Joey Moore threw a scoreless final inning.

Stony Brook crossed the plate in each of the first three innings, scoring two in the first, one in the second, and three in third for a 6-0 head start. Totaling 10 hits in the clash, the Seawolves tacked on another run in the bottom of the seventh.

In the nightcap, UAlbany struck first, as Alex Lushkevich lined a leadoff single to centerfield and Hinchy followed with a single to left. With two outs, sophomore Evan Harasta drove in Lushkevich with a single to third, giving the Great Danes a 1-0 lead.

However, Stony Brook answered in the bottom of the inning with two runs, taking advantage of a leadoff walk, and two singles.

The Seawolves took a 3-1 lead in the third when Kevin Krause reached on a leadoff walk, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a groundout.

In the fourth, Stony Brook added three unearned runs, sparked by a leadoff error, wild pitch, and walk. Jack Parenty knocked in one with a sac fly to center, Robert Chavarria lined an RBI single, and Kevin Courtney capped the inning with an RBI single to shortstop.

UAlbany looked to rally in the sixth of the seven-inning contest, as Harasta ripped a double to left center and D.J. Hoagboon followed with a single up the middle. Sprinting down the line from third, Harasta crossed the plate on Craig Lepre's grounder to the third baseman, making the score 6-2.

However, Stony Brook's starter Brandon McNitt (3-1) held the Danes off in the final inning, earning the complete-game win. McNitt allowed two runs and eight hits, while striking out four.

Freshman Stephen Woods (0-2) took the loss, throwing 3.2 innings on the hill. He allowed six runs (three earned) and three hits, while striking out three. Reliever Brendan Ryan threw the final 2.1 frames, limiting the Seawolves to just two hits and struck out one.

Harasta led the Danes with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.

UAlbany (4-10, 2-3 America East) and Stony Brook (8-9, 2-0) will wrap up the three-game conference series Sunday at noon.
