ALBANY, N.Y. -- Boston U.'s Tabi Hatch scored twice within a five minute span late in the game to lead the 12th-ranked Terriers to a 2-1 victory over #23 UAlbany in America East Conference field hockey action on Friday afternoon at Alumni Turf Field. The Great Danes fall to 4-6 overall, and stand at 0-1 in league play.

After a scoreless first half, UAlbany got on the board at 57:01 on a goal by Daphne Voormolen. After Boston U. goalkeeper Jess Maroney stopped the initial shot by Corrine McConville on a UAlbany penalty corner opportunity, the Great Danes took a flurry of shots, collecting the rebound off of Maroney's pads each time and trying again. UAlbany finally connected as Voormolen smacked a shot past Maroney into the right side of the cage, giving the Great Danes a 1-0 lead.

Boston U. responded just over four minutes later, as Hatch took a pass from Macey Gaumond from the left of the circle and slipped the ball past UAlbany's Kristi Troch. Hatch struck again at 65:30, this time taking an assist from Leslie Zules, putting the Terriers on top. UAlbany would attempt to rally as time expired, but Boston U. held on for the league-opening victory.

UAlbany out-shot the Terriers, 13-7, while both teams had two penalty corners apiece. Troch recorded three saves in the cage for the Great Danes in a complete-game effort. Valentina Cerda started in cage for Boston U. (7-3, AE 1-0), making four saves, while Maroney stopped seven shots for the Terriers.

UAlbany will return to action on Sunday, hosting #25 Louisville at Alumni Turf Field at 1 p.m.
