Albany, N.Y.- Brittany MacFawn and Brittany Schwieger each record complete-game shutouts in the non-conference doubleheader sweep over Dartmouth on Wednesday, April 18 at Albany Field. UAlbany combined for eight runs and 12 hits and held Dartmouth to just four hits in the sweep. The Great Danes improve to 28-10 overall while the Big Green falls to 10-19.

In game one, the Great Danes would score first in the bottom of the fourth Diane MacDowell would begin the inning with single down the left side and then steal second on the next batter. Taylor Franich would reach on an error by the second baseman which would drive MacDowell home. Charlise Castro would drive in the second run of the inning to go up 2-0.

UAlbany would score two more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to go up 4-0. The inning was highlighted with Vicky McFarland's second homerun in as many games. Brittany MacFawn (14-4) would pitch seven scoreless innings and not allow a hit until the seventh inning when Dartmouth shortstop Kara Curosh broke up the no-no with a single to left.

In game two, UAlbany (28-10) got on the board first with Diane MacDowell with a single and advancing to second, Taylor Franich walked then Charlise Castro would drive in MacDowell with an rbi-single up the middle to go up 1-0 in the bottom of the first.

The Great Danes would then tack on three more in the bottom of the third to extend the lead, 4-0. Castro would drive in two more with an two-run double to right to tally three rbis on the day and Alexa Toole would cap the inning off with an rbi-single.

Brittany Schwieger (12-4) held Dartmouth to just three hits in seven innings while striking out seven.
