Fairfax, Va.- Brittany MacFawn (3-2) pitched her second consecutive shutout, striking out 14 in seven innings in win over Bowling Green, 2-0, on Saturday, March 17 at Cherry Blossom Classic. MacFawn has now won her last three starts on the season, lowering her ERA from 2.74 to 1.70 and striking out a combined 26 batters.

Vicky McFarland, who went 1-for-2, tallied the Great Danes only two runs, one in the first inning and one in the sixth.

UAlbany started the bottom of the first inning with McFarland leading off with a walk, a sacrafice from Taylor Franich, a stolen base from McFarland then an RBI single by Mel Herndon to go up 1-0.

Then McFarland lead off the bottom of the sixth with a double to left center, Franich followed with a single to move the runner and was capped off with Charlise Castro driving in McFarland on a grounder to the shortstop.

Allie Weiser (2-2) pitched game two, going four innings of one run ball but got the no-decision. MacFawn (4-2) came in the top of the fifth and gave up one run but got the win with UAlbany scoring two in the bottom half of the inning.

Diane MacDowell led off the bottom of the fifth, with the game tied at one, with a single passed the third baseman. Vicky McFarland followed up with a single down the first base line putting MacDowell in scoring position on third. Taylor Franich put the Great Danes up, 2-1, with a sac-fly to left field to give UAlbany the lead. McFarland would score on a ground out to second from Wambold for the insurance run.
