UAlbany Field Hockey Advances to America East Conference Championship Game with 4-1 Win Over Maine

DURHAM, N.H. - Daphne Voormolen scored three goals, while
Jessica Longstreth scored one goal and assisted on all three of the others, as
second-ranked UAlbany defeated #3 Maine, 4-1, in the second America East
Conference Field Hockey Semifinal, hosted by top-seeded New Hampshire on Friday
afternoon.
Voormolen struck early for the Great Danes, scoring her
first goal just 6:45 into the game. Longstreth, along with Corrine McConville,
assisted on the goal on a penalty corner. Voormolen scored the second goal of
the game just before the half, finding the back of the cage at 29:52 with an
assist from Longstreth.
Maine (10-10) scored to start the second half, cutting
UAlbany's lead to 2-1, getting a goal from Nicole Sevey with an assist from
Annabelle Hamilton. The Great Danes responded three minutes later, as
Longstreth scored on an assist from Laura Page.
Voormolen finished up the scoring just a minute later on another penalty
corner, taking helpers from Page and Longstreth.
UAlbany outshot Maine, 13-6, and held an 8-4 advantage in
penalty corners. Goalkeeper Kristi Troch made one save in a complete-game
performance, while Alicia Frisch made five saves in the cage for the Black
Bears.
UAlbany (12-7) will take on top-ranked New Hampshire on
Sunday at 12 p.m. The Wildcats defeated Fairfield, 3-2, in overtime in the
first semifinal earlier on Friday.
