New Hampshire Slips Past UAlbany 1-0, in America East Conference Tournament Semifinals

Durham, N.H. - No. 12 University at Albany saw an America East Conference back-to-back title chance end as No. 10 New Hampshire scored in the 68th minute of the first semifinal match. The one goal proved to be enough to advance to the title game on Sunday.

The Great Danes controlled play for the majority of the game and had a 6-1 shot advance going into halftime. The team was unable to capitalize on three penalty corner attempts given in the first stanza.

Entering the second half, possession maintained with Great Dane sticks. At the 20:08 mark UAlbany had a goal from Erin Crosson as there was an illegal movement of the ball violation.

Just three minutes later the Wildcats had an opportunity to net the first goal, but a cross pass was misfired by the New Hampshire player.

With about six minutes left in regulation UAlbany had a one-on-one opportunity, but was unable to connect for the shot. Daphne Voormolen led the team with three shots, while Taylor Luke had two and Chantae Miller registered one on goal.

New Hampshire (16-4) ended the scoreless game at minute 67:14 as Emma Erier sent a center pass to Hayley Rausch who redirected the ball into the air past UAlbany goalkeeper Kristi Troch.

Between the pipes, Wildcats goalkeeper Katherine Nagengast made four saves in the win, while Troch made three saves in the effort.

Nina Walters and Brianna Schwoyer recieved all-tournament picks for their efforts in the semifinal game against the Wildcats.

UAlbany (13-7) hope for an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. The bracket will be announced on Tuesday, November 8th.
