Baseball Drops Non-Conference Road Game Against Le Moyne; Crean Registers Two Hits

Syracuse, N.Y. - Matt Marra went 3-for-5 and Brian Stinson belted a two-run homer to lead Le Moyne to a 7-0 victory over UAlbany in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday, May 4 at Dick Rowell Field.
UAlbany had the game's first golden opportunity to get on the scoreboard in the top of the second. Kyle Crean belted a leadoff double down the right field line for one of his two hits to get things going before Ralph Rizzo reached on a fielding error by the shortstop. Brian Gauthier sacrificed the runners over to second and third, but the Dolphins' Jeff Tardiff got out of the jam by fanning the next batter and inducing a groundout.
Le Moyne (26-25) pushed across a pair of runs in three different frames to take a 6-0 lead through five innings. Ryan Mahoney hit a sacrifice fly and Kyle Kalaka belted an RBI double down the line in right to put the Dolphins on the board in the second. One inning later, Stinson blasted a two-run homer to dead center to make it a four-run game. The Dolphins then added two insurance tallies in the fifth, which was capped by Sean Paino's sacrifice fly to center, before scoring the game's final run in the sixth on a wild pitch.
Le Moyne's Tardiff threw four innings and picked up the victory to improve his record to 5-3. He surrendered two hits and registered four strikeouts while issuing three walks. Cory Nelson relieved Tardiff and pitched three frames without allowing a hit. Nellis and Anarumo each threw one inning of relief. The duo combined to yield one hit while fanning three over the last two frames.
Terry McFadden, who got the nod to start for UAlbany, suffered the loss and dropped to 0-2 this season. He allowed 12 hits and seven runs, including six which were earned, while striking out three in five and one-third innings of work. Mike Baltera and Travis Wilson each came out of the bullpen and held the Dolphins hitless through the last two and two-thirds innings.
UAlbany (9-30) will return to action over the weekend, visiting Binghamton in America East Conference play. The teams will play doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, starting at noon.
