Albany, N.Y. - Junior forward Katie Kelly scored the lone goal to lead No. 15 Massachusetts to a 1-0 victory over UAlbany in non-conference action at Alumni Turf Field on Friday afternoon. It was the Great Danes' first loss of the season, after opening 2009 with three consecutive wins.

            Kelly broke a scoreless tie in the 47th minute, as she collected a rebound off an initial shot on a penalty corner and slipped it past UAlbany goalkeeper Kristi Troch. The Great Danes, who outshot Massachusetts 18-9, were unable to capitalize on 23 penalty corners in the game. Troch, who played the second half in the cage, made one save, while Christine Hoffman stopped two Massachusetts shots. Goalkeeper Alesha Widdall made five saves for the Minutewomen.

            UAlbany (3-1) will return to action on Sunday, hosting No. 12 James Madison at 2:30 p.m.
