A summer 2021 hire, Amanda Fioravanti will saw her first basketball season during the 2021-22 academic year.
Playing Career
Fioravanti holds extensive experience in the basketball hemisphere. Following the close of her career at Division I Saint Joseph’s University, she headed to Ireland to play for the Phoenix Belfast Rockets, of Ireland’s professional league, where she earned All-Ireland All-Star First Team honors and two monthly awards (All-Ireland Player of the Month for October and November 2018). After a year in Ireland, she continued in professional basketball with Latrobe City Energy - Big V in Australia.
Prior to UAlbany
While in Ireland, she worked as a coach for multiple teams. She was the head coach for the U16 Phoenix Belfast Girls Club team and the assistant coach for the U18 Phoenix Belfast Girl Club team. She also had the opportunity to introduce basketball to young students at four different schools: Victoria College Belfast, Methodist College Belfast, Dominican College-Fortwilliam, and St. Teresa’s Primary School.
After her professional career, Fioravanti continued to coach basketball for several age groups. Working with both club and high school teams, she taught anyone from ages 5-18 through the Player Progression Academy, Nike Team Takeover U15 AAU Team, and Our Lady of Good Counsel’s JV and Varsity teams.
Personal
Prior to joining the Great Danes women’s basketball staff, Fioravanti spent a year teaching kindergarten at Whittier Elementary School. While attending Saint Joseph’s for her Master’s degree in Special Education, she served as a long-term sub for physical education at Windsor Knolls Middle School in Ijamsville, Md.
Fioravanti earned her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Education (PreK-4) and a Masters of Arts and Sciences in Special Education, PreK-8th grade from Saint Joseph’s University.
A native of Frederick, Md., she currently resides in Albany, N.Y.
