Elias Ehlin joined the UAlbany men’s soccer coaching staff in August 2025. Ehlin is no stranger to the program, having competed for three seasons as a Great Dane and serving as captain his senior year.
In his first season on staff, Ehlin helped lead the Great Danes to a 5-6-6 overall record and a 3-2-2 mark in America East play, securing a 3rd place finish and berth in the conference tournament. The 2025 season resulted in several postseason honors. Ivar Gissurarson was named to United Soccer Coaches All-Northeast Region Second Team and America East All-Conference Second Team honors. Additionally, Roko Branko Mrvelj and Alexander Clive earned America East All-Rookie selections.
Ehlin transitioned into coaching after spending three seasons (2022–2024) as a member of the Great Danes’ program. He appeared in 53 matches for UAlbany, making 41 starts and logging over 3,200 minutes on the pitch. During his debut season in 2022, Ehlin was selected to the America East All-Tournament Team while helping the squad advance to the championship match.
Before arriving in Albany, Ehlin spent two seasons at USC Upstate, where he started 28 matches and was named to the Big South All-Freshman Team in the Spring of 2021.
A native of Kalmar, Sweden, Ehlin played for the Kalmar FF youth academy prior to his collegiate career in the United States.
Ehlin holds two degrees from UAlbany, earning both his undergraduate and Master’s in Business Administration.
