The University at Albany Men’s Basketball Team announced the promotion of Matt Cioce to the role of Video Coordinator and Director of Recruiting in the spring of 2022. Cioce joined the Great Danes at the start of the 2021-22 season as a Graduate Assistant, serving under Head Coach Dwayne Killings in his first season.

“I couldn’t be happier to promote Matt Cioce to Video Coordinator and Director of Recruiting,” said Killings. “Matt’s ability to engage, motivate and mentor our young men and inspire their growth is a special talent he possesses. His positive energy and commitment to UAlbany is vital to our success. After sacrificing so much as a graduate assistant, he has truly earned this opportunity.”

Cioce arrived at UAlbany in 2021 after serving as the Head Basketball Coach and Program Director at Christ School in Arden, North Carolina from 2019-2021. In his first year, Cioce led the Greenies to a NCISAA Conference Championship. The varsity program recorded a Conference Player of the Year honor, five All-Conference Selections, and two All-State Selections during his tenure as coach.

"The opportunity to work for Coach Killings at The University at Albany, a program with a rich basketball tradition in a city that loves basketball, is one that I am incredibly grateful and excited for,” said Cioce when he joined the program. “Coach Killings' vision of developing our players as leaders in the community and on the court aligns with how I hope to help our young men on a daily basis. The coaching staff and players have the MENTALITY I want to be a part of. Go Great Danes!"

Cioce played basketball for Stetson University, graduating in 2018 with a degree in Sports Business and Business Administration. While at Stetson, he aided the Athletics Department as a Basketball Camp Assistant – helping camp directors in all facets of day-to-day operations for the team’s summer camps.
