How it Happened:
- UAlbany threatened early in the first inning after John Vitucci walked and advanced to third, but the Great Danes were unable to bring him home.
- Both teams were held scoreless through the first four innings as Christian Mello worked around traffic and kept UMass Lowell off the board.
- UMass Lowell broke through in the fifth inning, stringing together four hits highlighted by a two-run double from Sean O'Leary and an RBI double from Carlos Martinez to take a 3-0 lead.
- Brian Cadieux entered in relief in the sixth and provided stability out of the bullpen, holding the River Hawks scoreless through his first inning of work.
- The River Hawks added an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI single from Carlos Martinez to extend the lead to 4-0.
- UAlbany continued to create opportunities late, including a bases-loaded chance in the ninth inning, but UMass Lowell was able to escape the jam and secure the shutout victory.
