Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team battled late but ultimately fell to UMBC on Sunday afternoon.

- Patrick DeSarno and Tre Mariano both tallied a pair of hits, with DeSarno adding a pair of RBIs and Mariano addind one.
- Five Great Danes tallied at least an RBI; DeSarno, Mariano, Jaxon Mueller, Zach Mravlja, and John Vitucci.
- Vitucci added a pair of runs and a pair of walks, both of which led the team.
How it Happened:
- After loading the bases in the top of the first, UMBC struck first with a single and a sac fly to put them up 2-0 early.
- The Retrievers tacked on another in the top of the second on a sac fly to extend the lead to 3-0.
- The Great Danes got on the board in the bottom of the third when Jaxon Mueller drove in Victor Mazzara on a single through the left side to make it 3-1. Tre mariano doubled in the next at bat and brought Patrick DeSarno home to cut the lead to 3-2.
- UAlbany tied it up in the bottom of the fourth when DeSarno singled to drive in John Vitucci from second to make it 3-3.
- UMBC retook the lead in the top of the sixth with a pair of runs to make the score 5-3.
- The Great Danes cut the lead in half in the bottom of the frame when DeSarrno singled to bring Vitucci home and make it 5-4.
- UAlbany scored a pair in the bottom of the seventh courtesy of a pair of infield singles by Zach Mravlja and Vitucci to put the purple and gold in the lead for the first time today, 6-5.
- The Retrievers tied it back up with a run in the top of the eighth and made it 6-6 late in the game.
- UMBC led off the top of the ninth with a pair of singles and a sac bunt, and drove in both runners the next at bat with a single to center field to take a two-run advantage, 8-6, into the bottom of the ninth.
- The Great Danes were unable to score in the bottom of the ninth, and UMBC walked away with an 8-6 win.
