Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team fell to UMBC in a pair of games on Friday afternoon.
Coach Jon Mueller: "Credit to UMBC they played a clean Day and threw the ball well. We struggled all afternoon offensively and faltered defensively in game two."

UMBC got on the board first with an RBI double in the top of the second to make it 1-0 early.

In the bottom of the frame, The Great Danes picked up a pair of singles but were unable to score.

After five strong innings from UAlbany starting pitcher Christian Mello, Tyler Kneller took over in the top of the sixth.

Following a leadoff double and a passed ball, the Retrievers extended their lead in the top of the sixth with a sac fly to push the score to 2-0.

The Great Danes loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to plate any runs, and UMBC walked away with a 2-0 win in game 1.
How it Happened Game 2:

UMBC struck first in the top of a first with a leadoff triple and a groundout that scored the runner to make it 1-0.

Jaxon Muller led off the bottom of the second with a single and got to third on a ground ball and a passed ball but was unable to score, and the score remained 1-0.

After a hit by pitch to load the bases in the top of the fifth, the Retrievers roped a two-run double to extend the lead to 3-0. A single later in the frame pushed two more across and made the score 5-0.

UAlbany got on the board in the bottom of the frame when Victor Mazarra looped a bases-loaded sac fly into right to push Tre Mariano across to cut into the lead, 5-1.

In the top of the seventh, UMBC loaded the bases with no outs and recorded a trio of runs to push the lead to 8-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Zach Mrvalja drove in Mariano on a single through the infield to make the score 8-2.

Mariano led off the bottom of the ninth with a double and got driven home on a Kyle Stephens single that bounced off second base to make the score 8-3, the final score of the game.
