SHORT STORY: The Great Danes totaled 23 hits, including seven extra-base hits, on their way to two victories having scored over 10 runs in each, Sunday.
 
GAME ONE

KEY STATS
  • Freshmen Katie Parisi and Sierra Roy led with three RBI each while their fellow classmate totaled a team-high three hits and three stolen bases. All three hit a double.
  • Four Great Danes added two hits each - Parisi, Roy, junior Kristina Langdon, and senior Kasey Conn.
  • In the circle, three pitchers saw time - Julia Pike, freshman Becca Munslow, and sophomore Hailey Errichiello. Pike started and Errichiello closed the game. Munslow pitched 3.1 innings for the win and allowed just one run while striking out three batters.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Great Danes opened the game strong with three runs in the first inning.
  • Julia Pike hit an infield single to get on base before scoring from a Katie Parisi single.
  • Sophomore Mary Kate Murray and Sierra Roy added RBI before the end of the inning.
  • The second inning proved the most fruitful for UAlbany with six runs scored on seven hits. Every batter in the lineup saw the box at least once with three getting two plate appearances.
  • After two singles from Kristina Langdon and Kasey Conn, the former scored on a wild pitch and the latter followed suit during a single from senior Sara Anderson.
  • Following a pitching change, Parisi doubled to center field to bring in UAlbany runs before scoring herself and giving senior Deanna Grahek an RBI.
  • Langdon added her second hit of the inning to bring in the Great Danes' ninth run for a 9-0 lead after two.
  • In the third inning, Sierra Roy doubled to bring in two runs for UAlbany and make it an 11-0 advantage.
  • MSM scored five runs before the end of the third and closed the scoring gap to six, 11-5.
  • Langdon scored what proved to be the final UAlbany run off a sacrifice fly from sophomore Sara Scozzari in the top of the fourth.
  • Through the final three innings, the Mountaineers added three runs but it was not enough and UAlbany won the game, 12-8.

  • Julia Pike led the team with four RBI, two hits, and two runs.
  • Sierra Roy followed with three RBI and sophomore Sara Scozzari totaled two RBI.
  • Pike and Scozzari hit a home run. Scozzari's was the first of her collegiate career and Pike's was a grand slam.
  • Katie Parisi scored two runs off two hits, including one double.
  • Eleven different Great Danes contributed at least an RBI, a hit, or a run.
  • Hailey Errichiello started the game and pitched four strikeouts in four complete innings for the win. Becca Munslow closed the game with two strikeouts in one inning.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Each of the first five batters got on base and the Great Danes earned a 2-0 lead with no outs.
  • Their lead grew to four with two RBI from Sierra Roy and junior Taylor Quinn.
  • MSM scored their first and only run in the bottom of the first.
  • After a scoreless second innings, UAlbany scored nine runs in the third.
  • With two on base, Roy hit a double to make it a 6-1 game.
  • Kasey Conn drew a walk with the bases loaded just before Julia Pike hit a grand slam to clear the bases.
  • Following a double from Katie Parisi, Sara Scozzari hit her first career home run and the Great Danes held a 13-1 advantage.
  • The score remained through the fourth and fifth innings and UAlbany completed the four-game sweep of the Mountaineers.
 
NEXT: UAlbany is set to open the conference season at Bryant (Mar. 21-22) after a couple of scheduled midweek games in Maryland.
