BOSTON – The University at Albany women's soccer redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Claudia Volino and freshman defender Lila Algarin have earned America East weekly awards following the Great Danes' 1-nil victory over UMass Lowell, Sunday afternoon, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

Volino has been named Goalkeeper of the Week after tallying ten saves in 90 minutes for her second clean sheet of the season. Volino also recorded a 1.000 save percentage after stopping every shot she faced. Volino made two crucial back-to-back saves in the 75^th minute of play to keep UMass Lowell off the scoresheet and maintain UAlbany's 1-nil lead. Currently Volino sits third in the league in saves per game, averaging 4.50.

Algarin has been named Rookie of the Week after playing all 90 minutes on the Great Danes' back line in their shutout win over UMass Lowell. Out of the 12 contests UAlbany has played thus far, Algarin has started and played in ten of them. She has also played all 90 minutes in six of these matches and recorded an assist earlier in the season in the Great Danes' victory over NJIT. Algarin has recorded the third-highest number of minutes played of anyone on the team, second-highest out of field players.

These awards mark the first America East weekly honor of Algarin's career, the second Rookie of the Week honor, and first Goalkeeper of the Week honor for the Great Danes this season.
