I did not prepare us well for this game, and it showed tonight. In crucial moments when we needed plays to be made, we did not make them, and you can't start a game like that and finish the way we did."
How it Happened:
- The Chargers opened the scoring with a 38-yard field goal from Liam Quigley to take a 3-0 lead.
- New Haven extended its lead late in the first quarter with a 12-yard touchdown pass from quarterback AJ Duffy to Matt Chandler, making it 10-0.
- Duffy threw his second touchdown of the night in the second quarter, pushing the Chargers' lead to 17-0.
- With just over five minutes left in the half, Duffy found Nikkem Reynolds in the end zone to make it 24-0.
- UAlbany responded with an 11-play, 75-yard drive capped by a one-yard rushing touchdown from Griffin Woodell to cut the deficit to 24-7 heading into halftime.
- The Great Danes opened the second half with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Jack Shields to Tavahri Groves, trimming the lead to 24-14.
- With 5:59 remaining in the game, kicker James Bozek connected on a 45-yard field goal to make it 24-17.
- UAlbany regained possession in the final minutes but was unable to score, and New Haven kneeled out the clock to secure the 24-17 win.
