SHORT STORY: The Great Danes put up a good fight against Syracuse, but ultimately lost both in a Wednesday evening doubleheader.
GAME ONE
SCORE: Syracuse 6, UAlbany 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Syracuse started the game with a bunted single and quickly put two runners in scoring position.
- Hailey Errichiello, sophomore Mary Kate Murray, and freshman Vanessa Meyers combined for a double play at first and home to end the first scoreless.
- Caitlyn Frederick opened with a first-pitch bunt but was called out at home after making her way around the bases.
- After a scoreless second inning, the Orange loaded the bases with just one out in the top of the third.
- The Great Dane defense turned its second double play of the game. This time junior Sara Anderson and Meyers combined for outs at third and home.
- Syracuse scored three in the top of the fourth to take the lead.
- In the top of the fifth, Errichiello and the defense retired the Orange in order.
- Victoria Vilarchao (fifth) and Sara Scozzari (sixth) each hit a single into right field to get on base but in both innings, the Great Danes were unable to take advantage of the base runner.
- Syracuse scored three in the top of the seventh to extend the lead to 6-0.
- UAlbany was unable to answer in the final inning and the Orange earned the shutout win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Syracuse opened the game with a two-run homer in the top of first.
- UAlbany answered in the bottom of the first with two runs of their own.
- After Caitlyn Frederick got on base with a walk, Christie Collins bunted to put two runners on. With a throwing error for the Orange, both runners advanced - Frederick scored and Collins made it to third.
- Taylor Quinn immediately followed up with an RBI groundout.
- Kate Powers tallied her second strikeout of the game in the top of the second.
- Syracuse took a 4-2 lead in the top of the third.
- After leaving two runners on base in the top of the fourth, the Orange was able to score a run in both the fifth and sixth innings.
- Down 6-2 in the seventh, the Great Dane defense retired Syracuse in order to quickly head back to the dugout.
- Collins struck out but made it to first on a wild pitch to extend the inning.
- UAlbany was unable to take advantage of two runners on base and the Orange closed the doubleheader with a sweep.
