SHORT STORY: Three pitchers - Kate Powers, Hailey Errichiello, and Dominique Prevette - pitched at least three outs each to combine for a five-inning no-hitter and sweep the weekend series against Maine, Sunday.
 
KEY STATS
  • Senior Caitlyn Frederick went 3-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
  • Sophomores Taylor Quinn (3) and Mary Kate Murray (2) each added multiple RBI.
  • Sophomore Kristina Langdon (double) and Frederick (triple) hit the only extra-base hits of the day.
  • Junior Sara Anderson, freshman Vanessa Meyers, and Frederick led with two runs each.
  • Eight of the nine starters contributed to the score with either a run scored or an RBI.
  • Redshirt-senior Kate Powers started the game in the circle and pitched three strikeouts in three innings for the game win. Freshman Hailey Errichiello and senior Dominique Prevette each pitched one strikeout in 1.0 innings. The three pitchers combined for a no-hitter while allowing just three batters on base with two HBPs and one walk.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Caitlyn Frederick led off the game with a triple down the left-field line.
  • Taylor Quinn drove in Frederick for the Great Danes' first run.
  • The Great Danes loaded the bases in the bottom of the second with their first three batters - redshirt-senior Victoria Vilarchao walked while Sara Anderson and Vanessa Meyers singled.
  • Frederick added two RBI to her stat line with a single through the right side. Freshman Jenny Nardelli, pinch-running for Vilarchao, and Anderson scored.
  • After Frederick stole second to put two runners in scoring position, a single from Quinn drove in two additional runs to make it a four-run inning for UAlbany.
  • The consistent batting continued for the Great Danes in the bottom of the third with six additional runs.
  • Loading the bases with two walks and a hit-by-pitch, Meyers walked in an RBI for run number six on the day.
  • Kristina Langdon doubled to right field to bring in Anderson and Vilarchao for two RBI.
  • Meyers scored on a throwing error home to make it a 9-0 game with just one out on the board.
  • Mary Kate Murray drove in the final two runs of the inning with a single to right field.
  • Having taken over at catcher in the top of the fourth, redshirt-sophomore Natasha Mendez hit a single through the right side to get on base in the bottom of the fourth.
  • Frederick brought Mendez home with what proved to be the final RBI of the contest.
  • After three final outs, including a strikeout and a caught pop fly from pitcher Dominique Prevette.
 
NEXT: The Great Danes will host Syracuse (Apr. 23) for their Mental Health Awareness games before heading to Bryant for a weekend series (April 26-27).
