SHORT STORY: The Great Danes were unable to overcome the Retrievers' big-hitters in game one of the weekend series in Baltimore, Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Retrievers started the hitting in the bottom of the first but the Great Dane defense left two runners on base to keep it a scoreless contest.
- Victoria Vilarchao answered with the first UAlbany hit in the top of the second.
- Hayley Wieczerzak quickly ended the second inning with three consecutive strikeouts.
- Caitlyn Frederick and Vanessa Meyers each tabbed a hit in the third and fourth innings, respectively, but both runners were left on base and the game remained scoreless through four innings.
- UMBC was the first on the board with a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth.
- Frederick tallied her second hit, a bunt, to get on base as the leadoff batter in the sixth inning.
- After stealing second, Frederick scored during a single to right field from Mary Kate Murray to tie the game at one.
- The Retrievers got the final say with three runs off two homers in the bottom of the sixth.
