KEY STATS
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Siena singled in the first inning to get on base but Kate Powers struck out the next two batters to leave the runner on first base.
  • Scoreless through two innings, Sara Anderson opened the bottom of the third with the Great Danes' first single of the contest.
  • The Saints' first batter of the fourth got on base with a walk and made her way around the bases to score before the end of the inning.
  • Siena led off the fifth with a triple before a pinch-hitter tallied a home run to give the Saints a 3-0 lead.
  • With a pinch-runner on base, Christie Collins bunted to get on base and advance Jenny Nardelli to second. A throwing error allowed the baserunners to advance an extra two bases - Nardelli scored and Collins ended up on third base.
  • Taylor Quinn followed up with an RBI single to make it a 3-2 game.
  • Caitlyn Frederick bunted to get on base but, along with Quinn, she was left on base.
  • UAlbany once again had a chance to tie the score in the bottom of the sixth with the bases loaded but with two outs on the board, a force out at second was all it took to end the inning.
  • Hayley Wieczerzak came in to pitch for the seventh inning and struck out three batters in 12 pitches.
  • Quinn made it to second base with a single and a sacrifice bunt from Frederick in the bottom of the seventh but it was not enough and Siena ended the game with a one-run win, 3-2.

NEXT: The Great Danes will head to UMBC to close out the week with a three-game series in Baltimore.
