Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No.16 Clemson in South Carolina

Short Story: The University at Albany women's lacrosse program took on No.16 ranked Clemson, falling to the Tigers 21-8.
 
Key Stats:
  • Dylana Williams led the Great Danes with four points from four goals.
  • Mikaela Mooney dished out the most assists with two.
  • Paisley Cook led the draw control charge with nine total draw control wins.
  • Abbie Murphy, Mackenzie Salentre, Gracie McCauley, and D. Williams all picked up two ground balls.
  • Kloey Roos and G. McCauley led the Great Danes with one caused turnover each.

How it Happened:
  • Clemson's Regan Byrnes tallied the first goal of the game a little over three minutes into the first.
  • Gracie McCauley answered less than a minute later to tie it up for the Great Danes 1-1.
  • The Tigers closed out the first half by recording five straight goals to take a 6-1 lead after 15:00 minutes of play.
  • Clemson added on to score their sixth unanswered goal before Dylana Williams scored off a free position shot to make it 7-2 Clemson.
  • Kayla Macleod pushed Clemson ahead 8-2 before Ava Poupard and D. Williams tagged on two more goals for UAlbany bringing the Great Danes deficit to four goals, 8-4.
  • Clemson closed out the second quarter on a 4-0 run to make it 12-4 at the half.
  • The Great Danes and Clemson traded two goals a piece to start the third highlighted by goals from Courtney Rowe and D. Williams to make it 14-6 Clemson, before the Tigers rallied off another five goals to close out the third leading 19-6.
  • Clemson opened the fourth scoring twice before D. Williams and Co. Rowe tallied the final goals of the game to give Clemson the 21-8 victory.
