Women’s Lacrosse Conquers Colonials in Friday Night Battle

Short Story: The University at Albany women's lacrosse program defeated Robert Morris University Friday Night 19-7, in the team's "Blackout" night.
 
Key Stats:
  • Mikaela Mooney led the Great Danes' offense with five points from two goals and a team-high three assists.
  • Dylana Williams led UAlbany's offense by recording a perfect 1.000 shot percentage and shots-on-goal percentage, scoring four goals on four shots, all being on goal while going 2-2 on free position shots.
  • Gracie McCauley and Mackenzie Salentre picked up the most ground balls on the team with three each.
  • Paisley Cook helped set up UAlbany's offense off the draw thanks to her 10-draw control wins.
  • In the crease Grace Cincebox played an entire 60 minutes in the net where she made seven saves with seven goals allowed for a .500 save percentage and recorded a team-best five ground balls.
  • UAlbany tallied eight assists, 29 shots, and 22 shots on goal, scored four woman-up goals, while going 14-16 on clear attempts, and caused 14 turnovers.

How it Happened:
  • Robert Morris' Jenna Irwin scored her 20th goal of the season in the first minute of the game.
  • UAlbany took control rallying off six goals in just over five minutes highlighted by two goals from Dylana Williams.
  • Irwin stopped the bleeding for RMU temporarily halfway through the quarter before five unanswered goals by the Great Danes in the final 6:32 minutes of the quarter thanks to Courtney Rowe and D. Williams picking up hat tricks in the first 15 minutes of the game to make it an 11-2 Great Danes lead.
  • Robert Morris tallied the first point of the quarter before Williams picked up her fourth goal of the game with McCauley scoring her second against RMU and Kloey Roos finding the back of the net for the first time during the night.
  • RMU scored the final goal of the half as the Purple and Gold would take a 14-4 lead after 30 minutes of play.
  • The third saw Haley Phalines score back-to-back goals to push UAlbany's lead ahead 16-4 with 6:26 left in the third.
  • The Colonials closed out the quarter scoring two to regain a 10-goal deficit.
  • Just inside a minute into the fourth Phalines, scored her third goal of the game for the Great Danes' third Hat Trick of the night.
  • At the 10:33 mark of the game, a four-year member of the Great Danes and 2024 America East Defender of the Year Mackenzie Salentre recorded the first point of her collegiate career by scoring off an assist from Emma Weaver.
  • UAlbany and RMU would both find the back of the net one more time before the clock expired giving the Great Danes a 19-7 victory over the Colonials.
 
UP NEXT: UAlbany's women's lacrosse will next hit the road and fly on down to Clemson, South Carolina. They'll take on the No.16 ranked Tigers of the ACC in a midweek Wednesday Night Battle with the first draw set for 6:00 pm.
